How to make your shoulders & upper arms look slimmer in 3 mins

Did you know that rolled shoulders (a.k.a. hunched shoulders) make you look fat?
Well, this is the picture which prooves that.

Rolled shoulders make your arm look fatter

The lower picture was taken 3 minutes apart, after doing some quick exercises to releave my rolled shoulders. By doing this, my shoulders look slimmer and better toned.
(The orange strip is there to show that the width of my neck is constant)

The Exercise I Did

I did exercises to strech my pectoralis minor muscle.

Exercises to alleviate rolled shoulders

Find an open doorway or a pole, and stand with you left hand touching the wall/pole.
With the hand touching the wall/pole, take one/two steps forward and strech your shoulder for approximately 10 seconds.
Repeat this placing your hand in different positions.
Do the same on your right shoulder.

For my case, my right shoulder is more rolled (because I am right handed), so the difference is more obvious on the left side of the picture.

How to tell if your shoulders are rolled

All anatomy textbooks show pictures of the human body facing its palm forward. All "anterior" (front) muscles are located in the region which is visible when the palm is facing forward (http://anatomyuniverse.com/diagrams/limbs/upper/muscles/anterior/superficial#.U2sYtFen9dg)

Therefore, based on the human anatomy, the "correct position" of the arm is when the palm is facing forward. When you stand up, relaxed, and your palms are facing inwards or backwards, your shoulders are probably rolled.

Causes

Imbalance of the muscles is one of the major causes that make your shoulders roll. If the trunk muscles are more developed in the front and less developed in the back, you tend to hunch over. This hunching leads to your shoulder rolling forward too.

Imbalances may be caused by too much weight lifting and too little exercise for the latissimus dorsi and trapezius muscles; too much computer/desk/smartphone work; and other activities that make your muscles in the front to tense up.

Conclusion

It is inevitable for people living in the modern hi-tech world to have rolled shoulders to a certain degree; we don't lift enough weights to activate the muscles in the back and we work on digital devices too long to overactivate the muscles in the front. However, when the muscles are posistioned awkwardly, your body would not only look fatter, but may be prone to discomfort, pain and other malfunctioning.
