Minimum number of clothes?

With too many clothes in my closet and nothing to wear, I decided to do some clean-ups and limit my closet to minimum number of clothes (especially, clothes that look presentable & wearable to my work).

I was doing some research, trying to find out what were the "must haves" and "minimum numbers." I saw the items, I saw the numbers, but I wasn't convinced if the numbers actually worked. So I put it to the test, but drawing them.

One book/website (I forgot) I read said, a minimalist's closet consists of 5 tops, 2 skirts, 2 pants, 2 jackets and 2 dresses. With that, there'd be 66 combinations.

Really?

Let us see.
(Btw, I thought matching the colour types would be easier to work with, so all the clothes have "warm" colours)

Clothes of Minimalists
5 tops with 1 skirt = 5 combinations

Minumum number of clothes
The same 5 tops with a different skirt = 5 combinations

Sub-total: 10 combinations

At least how many clothes should be in the closet?
The same 5 tops with 1 pants: 5 combinations

Sub-total: 15 combinations

Minimum number of clothes for women
The same 5 tops with 1 pants: 5 combinations

Sub-total: 20 combinations

Let's add a jacket.
Minimum number of clothes required for work days
5 tops X 2 pants X 1 jacket makes 10 combinations (only 5 are illustrated here)

Sub-total: 30 combinations

With the same jacket and 2 skirts, 5 tops X 2 skirts X 1 jacket makes 10 combinations.

Sub-total: 40 combinations

Doing the same with another jacket

5 tops X 2 pants X 1 jacket
5 tops X 2 skirts X 1 jacket
That would be 20 combinations.

Sub-total: 60 combinations

With the two dresses:

Additional 6 combinations with the dresses (2 for just wearing the dress, 2 for wearing one type of jacket, and 2 for wearing another).

Don't mind the picture. I could only fit in 5 people.

13 clothes makes 66 dresses

One combination could look more stylish than the other, but never mind. No one has the perfect closet anyway.

And accessorising adds infinite possibilities.

13 clothes may be a good number

I won't say it's a lucky number, but 66 combinations seems plenty for me.
There are approximately 264 weekdays in a year (actually less because of the holidays, but for calculation purposes, let's pretend there are 264 weekdays). The 66 combinations can be repeated 4 times, but with a different taste of fashion from layering with T shirts, wearing a turtleneck sweater, accessorising, etc.

I never thought I would follow the colour theory, but just owning warm/cool colours makes it really easy to combine clothes :)
